CHANGES IN LICENSING.
, (Press Assn. Telegram.) HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.
Wellington, this day,—During last night’s-sitting, on the motion to go into committee on the Licensing Act Amendment Bill, Mr Stevens moved that the Bill and all the proposed amendments should be referred to a Select Committee.
After discussion, this amendment was rejected by 42 to 38, and the motion to go into committee was carried by 51 to 25. ,
In committee an amendment by Mr Sutton to make the local bodies the licensing committee was carried by 32 to 31.
A long discussion ensued on clause 3, and certain amendments were proposed by Mr \Veston. Progress was reported, and the House rose at 12.35.
