Freeman R. Jackson’s Fortnightly Stock Report. Wanganui, July 26. The sale at Hawera on Friday was a failure, owing to the bad weather and small entries. Only one pen of fat cows was. sold. At the yards to-day a full entry came forward. The bidding was dull, a few lots only finding purchasers at the auction. I placed the bulk of the cattle afterwards. Sheep were dull of sale, nearly all the fat ones being turned out unsold. Cattle.—At Hawera, fat cows, £4 17s 6d. At the Wanganui yards, 295 head were yarded i Fat bullocks, £7 10s ; cows, £4 17s 6d to £6 5s ; cows, £4Ts 6d ; steers, £3 15s; yearlings, £2 ss. Sheep.—7oo were penned. Fat wethers, 15s ; ewes and wethers, 14s 6d ; breeding ewes, 14s. Pigs.—Porkers, 12s 6d to 16s. Horses.—A poor lot were offered. The bulk sold at ruling rates. . Exports.—44 cattle, 1064 sheep, 30 pigs, and 14 horses.
