CENTRAL HOTEL LEASE.
This case is coming to a close. Mr Hamerton has addressed the Court 2% hours on behalf of Mr Williams and the others who had to “show cause” against the rule moved for, Mr Hughes is now addressing the Court on behalf of Mr North, The Judge may give decision on the first motion to-morrow morning.
We understand that Mr William Balmforth has purchased this afternoon the interest in lease of the Central Hotel, Patea, which he intends to manage. The arrangement was made through Mr E. C. Horner, trustee in the estate of Mr O. M’Kittrick. The stock and fittings are to be taken at a valuation, Mr Balmforth has just sold his farm near Kakaramea, and waa entertained at dinner by settlers last evening. He has been one of the most popular and genial settlers in the district, and having now taken to a “ hew line,” he will doubtless have many good wishes for his success.
