MANUTA HI SCHOOL AFFAIRS

“ Fairplay ”in your issue of the 17th inst. partty admits that. “ Observer ” is working for the good of the district. When a person is noted for his want of interest in public affairs, and he suddenly assumes the role of an adept agitator, and school reformer,it requires an explanation. Will the following account for his unusual zeal, “ Fairplay ” made certain accusations, and insisted on an enquiry ; the charges were duly investigated by the school authorities, and found to be utterly untrue. “ F.P.” had to make a humiliating apology. Before this episode, there was no discordant jar, and school matters worked smoothly as a marriage bell. “ F.P.” now made his dehut in public. His first discovery was that we required a fresh teacher ; and, will you nill you, you shall have one. He carried it too. I narrated his other achievements in my last. He only takes exception to the number of petitions ; he might as well have eaten the whole leek as left this small portion, which I insist upon his eating. There were three petitions facsimiles of each other ; one sent' to the local Committee and two to the Board. “ How absolute the knave is ! We must speak by the card or equivocation will undo us.” The records prove that school matters were never better conducted than when those who had no children attending were at the head of affairs. Those who list may see this for, themselves, “ Fairplay ” can say with Captain Pistol, “ Tongue, I must put you into a butter woman’s mouth, and buy another of Bajaeet’s mule, if you prattle me into these perils,”—Thanking you, Sir, for the use of your valuable space, I remain, .Observer.
