STOCK AND LAND PRICES.
W. Cowern reports that at the clearing sale at Messrs Balmforth’s farm on Thursday, although the weather was exceedingly stormy, with wind, rain, and hail, a very large audience assembled. After Mr Jno. Burke had proposed “ Success to the sale,” a start was made, and spirited bidding was maintained throughout. Dry evres in poor condition made 8s 3d ; dry ewes nearly fat,' lls 3d ; wethers, 4-tooth, forward, 15s each ; 5 rams, 37s 6d. Draught horses £76, £26, £2l; saddle horses £l2, £8 15s, £5 ss. Pigs £1 7s 6d to £2 2s 6d. Farm implements sold well. Potatoes fetched 6s per sack. Oats realised 5s 8d bushel (good sample). Rape seed 4d per lb. Furniture met with ready sale, and at good prices. The Messrs Balraforth are deservedly popular, and the sale was an Unqualified success. Land.—Since my last report I have sold 358 acres at Manutahi, the property of Mr H. F. Christie, of this town, and Mr J. D. Christie, of Manutahi, to Messrs Ginger Bros, of Manutahi, the price realised being £l4 per acre.
