We learn that £235 is theamount of subscriptions to date for the new Anglican church in Patea. It is desired to make up the subscriptions to £4OO, which with the £4OO from increased mortgage on parsonage ground, will probably be sufficient to complete a church of the desired size and character. Mr T. Nutsford calls attention to his warranted watches, jewellery, and silverware.
Many old New Zealanders will remember Admiral Seymour (who now has command of the fleet at Alexandria) as having been commodore on the colonial station during the Taranaki war in 1860; also taking part in engagements on land. His vessel, says a Wellington paper, once stayed over four months in Wellington harbor. Nearly half a million acres of Crown land will be surveyed under the various Land Acts, and rendered saleable this year.
The increase of Auckland commerce is shown by the Harbor Board’s revenue, which in 1872 was £12,000, in ’7B was £19,320, and in ’Bl was £25,500. The reserves bring in £7,500, and most of them are still under the original leases, at low rentals.
