Patea Fisk and Game.
A meeting of sportsmen and others interested in acclimatisation was held on Saturday afternoon, at Mr Odgers’s hotel. Communication from the Hawera Acclimatisation Society was read, to the effect that the funds from Patea contributions may be managed by a local committee ; thereby avoiding severance from the society. Mr H. M. Brewer, secretary of the Wanganui society, attended by request and gave information as to the hatching of trout in boxes, and the small expense and simplicity of the operation. He said the Wanganui society were sending for hares to the value of £SO, and invited the Patea committee to co-operate. ■.v/riie meeting agreed to appoint a local committee, comprising Messrs Tennent, Barker, R. Horner, Faulkner, Arundell, R. B. Pearce, and H. E. P. Adams. The meeting also resolved to comtribute £25 towards the purchase, through the Wanganui society, of hares for stocking the Patea district. A subscription list for the purpose was opened, and sportsmen who are known to have been shooting without a licenee this season, are to be asked to contribute.
