Constantinople, -16th.—The six Grea Powers, Austria, France, England, Germany, Italy, and Russia, have sent an identical note to the Porte, inviting it to send a force of Turkish troops to Alexandria to restore order there. Irish Repression ActLondon, 16th.—The Irish Executive has issued a proclamation declaring seventeen counties to be subject to the provisions of the Irish Repression Act.

Australian Cricket in England

London, 14th.—A match between Australians and eleven of Yorkshire was commenced to-day at Dewsbury. Weather was fine. Home team went in first and scored 129. The only player who made any stand was E. Lockwood, who batted splendidly for 61. The Australians went in and had scored 111 for 5 wickets when stumps were drawn for the day. Bannerman was highest scorer, with 34, bowled. 15th.—The match was resumed to-day and the weather was inclement, and the wicket heavy. The Australians continued their first iuniugs but. only succeeded in adding3o runs for tne remaining 5 wickets. The innings closed for 141. The Yorkshire eleven went in for second innings, and had put together 64 rhus for loss of one wicket, when match ended in a draw.
