Market Quotations. MR W. COWERN’S REPORT.
Mr W. Cowern reports that at the Lincoln-street Yards on Wednesday, Julj' sth, 184 head of cattle were yarded, the most of which were sold at or immediately after the auction. No appreciable alteration in values was perceptible. On the 6th I held a clearing sale of milking cows 34 sold under the hammer at an average, of about £5. During the week 1 sold Messrs Balmforth’s farm near Manutahi, of 369 acres, to Mr John Parsons, of Papakura, in the Napier district, at a fairly satisfactory figure. I also sold Mr Prouse’s land at Kakaramea on which the Boiling-down plant and building recently burnt down was erected, at £ll 10s per acre. Messrs Balraforth Bros, clearing sale will take place on the farm on Thursday, July 30th, at noon. WOOL REPORT. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company Limited report having held their usual fortnightly produce sale in their warehouse, Wellington, on Wednesday sth inst. The following are sale quotations. TALLOW. Good mutton in shipping order, £34 per ton. Mixed, £3l to £32 5s per ton. Inferior, £25 to £27 per ton. HIDES. Salted medium weights, 3£d per lb. Bull hides, 24d per lb. SHEEP SKINS. Low quality crossbred, 3£d to 3£d per lb. Butchers, 3s each. NEW PLYMOUTH RETAIL PRICES. (Corrected by latest report),
