Meeting of Creditors.

ME M’KITTRICK’S BANKRUPTCY.

This afternoon, a first meeting of creditors in the estate of Owen M’Kittricb, lessee of the Central Hotel, Patea, was held in the Court House. Mr S. Taplin was voted to the chair, and the attendance of creditors was numerous. • ■ '

Mr M’Kittrick: Then I have no offer to make. Let every , man get what is his. fair due, as nearly as you can give it. 7

: Mr Barton moved that Mr E. C. Homer be appointed creditors’ trustee.

; Mr R. A. Adams seconded. . : Mr E. O’S. M’Carthy asked what would be done to prevent a family being tamed ' but of the house. ■

■ Chairman : That can be considered after motion.

Mr E. C. Horner was, after division, appointed trnstee.

The meeting resolved, on the motion b£ Mr Taplih, “ That Mr Christie be requested' not to exercise his bill of sale oh Tuesday next, and in consideration of same, the creditors do hereby acknowledge his claim; in full on the estate, and that an ’ order be made to the trustee authorising - him to pay Mr Christie’s claim in full out. of the first moneys received into the estate by him ; the period for which the bill of , sale held over not to be less than one month,”

Mr' Christie could’ not answer at once for his brother, but would recommend the acceptance of this if any creditors would be personal security for £2OO. Some creditors thought the trustee could raise the money at the bank to pay off the bill of sale. .

Agreed that the trustee’s commission be 5 per cent, on amount receivedj except the amount of bill of sale. ;

Agreed to let the debtor and family remain in the hotel for the present. Mr.. Adams, Solicitor, and Mr M’Carthy had . both urged some liberal allowance'on account of the debtor’s family, but the meeting postponed any definite .vote.
