Rabbit Destroying Process.— According to the Otago Daily Times , a rabbit-poisoning experiment was made at the back of the Farmers’ Arms Hotel, Princess-street South. An artificial warren of considerable extent was made, and rabbits having been put in boxes at the end of the fuming, poisonous gas (caused by the burning of a cartridge prepared for the purpose) was forced into the warren by means of an air pump. The trial proved effective, and the inventor of this process (Mr Forsyth) is sanguine that he has discovered a method of effectually removing the rabbit nuisance. The great advantage claimed for the system is that the whole apparatus only weighs a few pounds, and that anyone can use it. A Paris milliner has just concluded a a contract by which a dealer in game in Berlin undertakes to deliver the skins of 30,000 pigeons during the season for the adornment of hats and bonnets. The birds are to be caught in all parts pf Germany and taken to the railway yard, and there killed and immediately skinned, the skins being forwarded to Paris and the carcases retailed for a small sum each on the spot.
