Topper has descended from the lofty regions of proverbial philosophy into the frivolous atmosphere of the stage. He is about to publish in London a collection of plays and dramatic scenes for private thea' tricals.
It is said that George Dolby will soon publish all the letters written to him by the late Charles Pickens. Mr Dolby, it will be remembered, Avas the successful manager of 3Mr Dickens and the unsuccessful manager for a concert company in America.
It is kind of disgusting to a clergyman, after he has pointed to the situation of a condemned murderer as a warning against crime to have a deacon rise up and say, “ Th man was pardoned yesterday.” Conversation at the Rink : She—-'What a horrible noise this band makes I” He—' 1 J beg your pardon 1” She—“ I didn’t catch your last remark !” Both relapse into silence.
" Mamma is the old hen going to be sent away for the summer 7” “JNo, Charlie, but why do you ask 7” "Well, I heard papa tell the new governess that they would have a fine time when he sent the old hen away for the summer,” Jtamraa put little Charlie to bed.
