Freeman E. Jackson's Fortnightly Stock Report.

Wanganui, June 14. I have held three sales during the past fortnight. There is a decided improvement in values of cattle ; all offering meeting a ready sale. Fat cattle remain at late prices, the improvement being more noticeable in cows and 3-year-old bullocks. Sheep have commanded full rates. Ewes in lamb are greatly inquired for, and for this description of stock I have a good demand. Cattle—At Wavrley, on the second inst., 52 head came forward. Fat cows, £5; 2- steers, £4los ; heifers, £3 10 ; yearlings, £2 3s to £2 5s ; calves, £1 16s 3d. At Kakaramea 274 head were yarded —Bullocks, £5 to £6 10s ; f&t cows, £4 I7s 6d ; steers, £3 2s 6d ; heifers, £3 3s 6d to £3 5s ; calves, £1 17s 6d. At the yards to day 353 head were in the pens— Fat cows, £5 15s ; store bullocks, 2 and 3- £4 6s to £5 ; cows in calf, £3 12s 6d to £4 ; milch cows £6 to £lO ; yearlings, £2 ss. Sheep—At Waverley, 1137 were sold. Whethers 13s to 13 3d ; ewes, 9s 6d to 12s 6d ; lambs, 7s 9d. At Kakaramea 980 made up the sale —Fat ewes, 12s 6d ; merino whethers, 7s 6d ; lambs in low condition, 4s 7d ; store ewes, 7s Id. At St. Hill-street 2859 were penned—Best fat wethers 16s ; ewes in lamb, 12s to 12s 6d ; store ewes, 9s 4d ; store wethers, 12s 6d to 12s 7d ; lambs 5s 9d ; lambs in wool, 8s 6d.

Pigs—Market lower. Best bacon pigs, up to 50s ; porkers, 10s to 16s. Horses —At late rates.

Exports—so head cattle, 550 sheep, 90 pigs, 2 horses.
