Australian Cricket in England.
London, 2nd.—The cricket match at Manchester, Australians versos eleven of Lancashire, was resumed to-day. The home team continued their first innings, and were all disposed of for 118, being 141 behind the Australians. The Lancashire men followed; on their innings, and when time was called they -had : put together 213 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Mr A. G. Steed made 50, aifd>R. G. Barlow 55. Ship Foundered. ; ■ Sydney.—News has been received that the barque Don Quillenus has foundered during a gale at the Friendly Islands. All officers were drowned, and only five-of those on board were saved. ; - Frozen Meat Cargo. Suez,—fThe Orient steamship. Cuzco, ! which left Melbourne, on the Ist May, arrived here yesterday. Her refrigerat- ' ing machinery is* working splendidly, I and her cargo is believed to be in excel-lent-order. i ; GREAT LABOR STRIKE. Fully fifty thousand ironworkers are ! now on strike in New York and other cities in the States. WOOL AND PRODUCE. London, 2nd.—At to-day’s wool auction 1000 bales were offered. There was a ifirm and active demand. for. most;descriptions, but New Zealahd greasy sorts were rather weaker. I New Zealand wheat, ex warehouse,' Ala. = The wheat ! afloat for Great Britain is ‘ 270,000 quarters less than last week.' Australian tallow is advancing—-Best beef is now at 43s 6d, and best mutton at 44s 6d.
