Wellington* -r- Mr , Macandrew presented a petition from Wi Parata, who holds authority from Te Whiti,. asking that Te Whiti may be heard by Counsel at the bar of the, House with regard to the West Coast Peace Preservation Bill. Heathcote School Scandal. ~ , ' The Bosrd of Education have decided to ask for a Royal Commission to inquire into the Heathcote School scandal. The master, the Rev. Mr Wilks, made grave charges against Mr Davis, chairman of the school committee. The ratepayers of the district were not satisfied, and the board has taken the above way out of the difficulty. Fire. V : Dunedin. —A seven-roomed house at Cromwell, belonging to Mr Purcell, was burnt down last night. ’
