Victorian Finances.
Melbourne, May 80.—In the Legislative Assembly this evening, Sir Bryan O’Loghlin, as Colonial ' Treasurer, ;introduced his financial statement. He estimates *the revenue for tbe present financial year at £5,520,000,. and the expenditure at; £5,570,000. For the year 1881-82 the revenue was £5,560,000, and the expenditure, was £5,370,000. The statement proposes a reduction of duties on beer and'tea, and also a reduction of the present • postage rates. . It was further proposed to. vote \L120,000 for the defence force, and LIOO,OOO for irrigation. Hr! i ANOTHER LQAN^ Railways are returning 4 per cent.
