Delivered on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday Evenings by mounted messengers —at Eawera by 7-30 o’clock, at Normanby by 8-15, at Manaia and Waimate Plains by 8-30, and Southward at Waver ley (for train) by 6 o’clock
Pate a ratepayers are to meet to-morrow evening for discussion of the proposed loan of £5,000 for improvement works. This will be the only opportunity for expressing public opinion on the loan and on the mode of spending it. Whatever can be said for or against the scheme should be said publicly at this meeting. The Act provides this public opportunity, in order that every part of the scheme may be made clear not only to Councillors but to ratepayers. One or two 11 burning questions ” are raised by the mode of allotting the money to particular works, and these questions can be best discussed on their merits in presence of all the ratepayers,, or as many as can possibly attend. The hour of meeting is seven o’clock. The next process will be a ballot on the scheme as a whole.
