DAIRY FARM EXPERIMENT.
An important industry is being started on a large scale'in Manawatu district. The Post says that the Hon. ,R. Campbell, the proprietor of the Douglas settlement, .has shipped,,on board -a ship about due froin London a large and complete plant for a butter and cheese factory, with all latest, improvements for refrigerating and packing. It is estimated to cost £40,000, and it is asserted that careful calculation, based on experience of colonial and English markets, make out a possible profit of 20 per cent. ; Experts and skilled workmen accompany; the plant, and already the site is chosen ..and .preparations made tp, receive it. The factory will employ upwards of 200 men, of whom about 60 will be milkers. About 1000 milking cows will be kept on the farm to supply the milk, and the supplies cf neighboring farms will be ;bought.:; Wbatj,is .profitable is sure to be copied By everybody.
