Freeman E. Jackson’s Fortnightly Stock Report.
Wanganui, 17th.—The. sales during the past fortnight were fairly well attended, and bidding on the whole, brisk. Cattle remain at late values with a slight improvement in demand. Sheep are, scarce, and are enquired for, anything fit for turnips meeting with good competition. Horses of good stamp are better worth, but screws and weeds are unsaleable.
Cattle.— At Waverley 172 head were yarded. Fat cows, £5 2s 6d ; cows, £2 16s to £3 ; weaners, £2. At Kakaramea 266 came forward— Store bullocks, £4 6s 6d to £4 7s 6d ; milch cows, £4 10s to £5 5s ; 2-year-old steers, £2 17s 6d ; weaners, £1 10s. At the yards to-day 300 were sold. Fat bullocks, £6 7s Od to £7 15s ; 3-year-old bullocks, £6 6s ; .2-year-old steers, £3 12s 6d ; heifers, well-bred, £4'l6s ; cows, £2 17s 6d ; yearlings, £1 17s 6d to £2 2s. ‘
Sheep—At Waverley 1200 were penned. Ewes, 8s 3d to 10’s 6d ; lambs, 7s 9d. At Kakaramea 892 were sold at 10s ; old ewes, 7s 6d. At St Hill-street 1300 wore sold. Fat wethers, 16s ; store wethers, 11s 3d ; hoggets bred by the executors of Mrs Hair, 32s to 48s each ; shorn hoggets, £!253 ; ram hoggets, 40s to 67s 6d.
Pigs—Porkers, 7s 6d to 15s 6d ;, larger sorts, 27s each. Horses—Unbroken draughts, from £l3 to £2O 10s ; hacks, £6 to £11;; screws and weeds, from 20s to 60s,
