TAKING A NIP.
Mr. yolibracbt, whose,, office was destroyed at the late firc.in Panama-street, relates a story which is surely “ too good to be true.” Among the contents of the office was a snggestive-lobking jar. This excited the.curiosity of «np of the firemen, who^iii'the hurry of the moment, and without even taking timq tojgla,nee round in order to ascertain if anyone wereobserying hisaclions,.ea y gcrly'seized the jar and emptied a portion of its contents into his capacious mouth. It appears he mistook it for gin. As a matter of,fact, the jar-contained a.quantity of tobacco leaves in course of being cured. The inquisitive firemap did, not die/on ; f the /spot;; but he was,naturally taken very ill,, and : Mr Volibracht believes he/rccognises himifn a correspondent to the Evening Post , who last night announced he was , ‘desirons 1 6f learning the method of tobacco curing!— Post.
