SHEEP PROSECUTIONS
Six offences against tbe Sheep Act , were to have come before the R.M to-day, but two Justices could noUJB obtained. The informations were only that morning, and the parties attended by arrangement with the Inspector, without waiting to be served with summonses. Mr Richardson was also present to persecute, and Mr Scaife, assistant inspector, was with him. The cases were arranged for to-day in expectation that Mr Wray R.M. would have returned to Pates. The cases are therefore postponed till next Friday, Four charges are made against Mr H. T. G. Turner, of Otoia, as follow: (1) allowing one ram to mix with infected sheep on 2nd Marcli; (2) driving infected sh< ep along highway between Otoia and Whenuakura on Feb. 24, without written permission from Inspector; (3) negligently suffering one infected wether to stray on to W. and G. S. Newland’s land, on the 10th March ; (4) negligently suffering 6 ewes and I ram, infected, to stray on land belonging to Patrick Burke. Messrs 0. and E. Symes, Whenuakura, are charged with driving 3 infected sheep on a public highway within their own run, without written permission, on the 9th March. Mr H. S. Peacock, Manutahi, is charged with permitting 6 rams to run with infected ewes, on the 18th March.
