Insurance Report.

Sydney.—The report of the Australian Mutual Provident Society for last year has been issued. It shows that during the period named 6469 new policies, insuring £2,140,000, were issued. The new premiums amounted to £98,690. The total claims paid during the year amounted to £196,000. The accumulated fund of the society stands at £3,800,000.

FROZEN MEAT-BAD CONDITION. London, 26th.—Further examination of the meat brought from Melbourne by the Orient steamship Garonne has proved that a large proportion is in a bad condition, owing to the carcases having been packed in an unfrozen state.
