Freeman R. Jackson’s Fortnightly Stock Report. Wanganui, April 19. The sales during the past fortnight were well attended. I have no alteration in prices to quote, though- a somewhat better demand for cattle is noticeable. Sheep to-day, were not so brisk, but I managed to clear the lots after theauction. Cattle. —At Waverley 227 head were sold —cows and calves £4 12s 6d ; cows £3 to £3 2s 6d ; 2-ycar-old steers £3 17s 6d.; fat cows £4 14s 6d.; yearlings £2 ; weaners £1 17s 6d,: At Kakaramea 161 head were yarded—Cows and calves £3 7s 6d to £4 ; heifers £2 7s 6d to £2 10s ; cows £3 ; yearlings £2 ; weaners £1 15s. At the yards to-day 360 head were in the pens—Fat bullocks £7 ; fat cow’s £5 ; cows £3 Is to £3 6s ; steers £3 10s ; milch cows £4 Is to £5 10s ; heifers £8 ; yearlings £3 5s ; milch cows £3 2s 6d. Sheep.—At Waverley 2641 were penned —Fat weathers, 11s ; stores, 10s ; Napier ewes, 6s to 8s ; local ewes, 9s to 9s Od ; lambs, 4s to 5s Id ; merino wethers, 5s 3d. No sheep were yarded at Kakaramea. At St. Hill-street to-day 1776 were sold — Fat sheep, 12s to 12s 6d ; best ewes, 12s 3d to 13s ; lambs in wool, 6-s 3d to 7s 9d ; old ewes, 6s ; scrubbers, 3s. Horses.—About the usual number were sold at last quotations. Pigs.—Pigs were better worth—Best fat, up to 18s ; stores 2s 6d to 4s each. Exports. —Bo head cattle, 617 sheep, 60 pigs.
