London, 12tb.—At a banquet given this evening at Liverpool to the members of Parliament for. that town, the Marquis of Salisbury, who was present, made a speech on the political situation. Referring to Ireland, Lord Salisbury -advocated the adoption of a scheme to enable Irish tenant farmers to purchase their holdings. . Americans in Ireland. London, 12th.—An American subject, who was imprisoned at Ncas, County .Clare, Ireland, as a r “ suspect,’’ was released yesterday. N.Z. Home Mails DetainedMelbourne, 13th.—Arrived, this evening—Union Coy’s steamship Albion, from the Bluff. The. P. and O, Company’s steamship Clyde, with the homeward Suez mail, sailed before the arrival of the Albion, and the New Zealand mails for.England via Suez and Brindisi are . therefore detained.: Russia and EnglandSt. Petersburg, 12th.—It ha? transpired that Prince Lobanoff Rostofsky, Russian ambassador to Great Britain, has been summoned to this city by his Majesty the Czar. It is believed .that Prince, Lobanoff has' been recalled to succeed Count Ignatieff as Minister of the Interior. - • ■ Reported Loss of War Ship. Hongkong, I3th. been made with reference to the reported loss of the U.S. warship Richmond, but no reliable intelligence is yet to hand. The report is distrusted here.
