WANGANUI ENCAMPMENT.
We have been requested to publish the following address of farewell given by the Wanganui companies to the visiting Volunteers prior to their leaving:—The officers and members of the Wanganui corps desire to express their great obligation to Major Pitt and the officers and members of the Nelson corps, as also of the Waverley Cavalry and Patea Rifles, for their attendance at this Encampment, to the success of which their co-operation has contributed to the very highest degree. The Wangannis acknowledge much that they could wish had been better arranged in the preparations for the reception of their visitors, but trust that such shortcomings may be overlooked in the belief that these have in some measure been incidental to a first undertaking of the kind. In bidding their visitors farewell the Wangannis heartily trust that further opportunities may occur of meeting together, and thus mutually advancing the interests and popularity of the Volunteer movement..—Signed by Captain Neill as officer commanding district. —The above was handed to Major Pitt by Captain Neill before he left the camp on Monday evening.— Herald.
