Patea Cricketers.

(Telegram from our Correspondent .) New Plymouth, Tuesday.

The Taranaki match on Saturday was spoilt by the heavy rain. We gave one innings to the Taranaki team, and they made 103 runs, the rain falling all the time. At luncheon hour it was agreed to abandon the game, as we were all wet through, and there was no prospect of the.weathcr clearing., Elay was therefore not resumed, and the Patea team had no chance of showing their batting. We went to Pnkearuhe on Sunday, for the match there, but Monday proved to he more rainy even than Saturday, and play was not commenced. Both these matches have thus failed through the weather.
