Bridge near Kakaramea.
The following letter is received from the Public Works Department, addressed to those who signed a recent petition in and around Kakaramea for a bridge across Patea river:
“ With reference to the petition of yourself and others relative to the construction of a bridge over the Patea river, I am directed by the Acting Minister for Public Works to state that the Government have no funds at their disposal out of which this bridge could be erected ; but that the work is one which they trust will be practically provided by the proposals relative to local finance which the Government will submit to Parliament in the ensuing session.”
