Agricultural, Statistics.
The following are the agricultural statistics compiled by the superintendent collector, Mr Gi,l.■ Woon, for the Districts of Wanganui, Datea, and Hawera :
Wanganui County.—No. of holdings, freehold andlrhntecf,'2Bß ; r land -broken 1 np but not under crop, 809 acres; in wheat, 1846 acres, estimated to produce 59,644 bushels; in oais, acres, estimated to produce 30,139 bushels ; in barley, 49 acres, estimated to yield 1727 bushels; in hay, acres, estimated to yield tons; in sown grasses, 26,584£ acres ; grass-sown land not previously ploughed, 85,593 acres; :po-_ tatoes, acres, estimated to produce 2377-| tons ; in other crops, acres ; orchard, .350 acres ; total under crop, 117,522 acres. Quantity of last year’s crop remaining on hand—3oo bushels of wheat; oats, 354 bushels ; bailey, 250 bushels.
Patea County.— Holdings, freehold and rented, 290; land broken up but not under crop, 29 acres ; wheat, 1485£ acres, estimated to yield 39,282 bushels ; oats, 1657 acres, estimated to yield 83,713 bushels; barley, acres, yield, 2615 bushels; hay, 1008^ ; acres, yield, tons; in grasses after having been: broken up, 14,498 acres; lands not previously ploughed (including such as is in hay), 43,005f acres; potatoes, 155£ acres, ‘968 tons ; .in other crops, 27 30£ acres ; orchard, 112|; total under crop, 64,866 acres. County of Hawera.—^-Holdings, freehold, rented, &c., 322; land broken up but hot under crop, 656 acres!; wheat, 686 acres, yield, 23,188 bushels ; oats, 1097 acres, estimated yield 30,077 bushels ; barley, 15£ acres, 465 bushels ; hay, 789£ acres, 1594 tons; in grasses after having been broken np (including such as in bay), acres ; lands not previously broken up (including such as in hay), 32,070 acres ; potatoes, 130 acres, 839-| tons ; in other crops, 1622| acres; orchard, 14 acres; total acreage under crop, 41,885. acres.
Total for collective districts ;—Holdings, 900 ; broken up but not under crop, 994 acres; wheat, 4217 acres ; estimated yield, 122,054 bushels; oatsi 3924 acres, yield 93,920 bushels ; barley 177 acres, yield 4807 bushels; bay, 2819 acres, 5799 tons; in grasses after being broken np (including such as in hay) 46,411 acres; land not previously ploughed (including such as in hay), 160,668 acres; potatoes, 614 acres, 4185 tons , in other ct ops, 5085 acres; total acreage under crop, 224,273. In the county of Hawera acres of tobacco are cultivated.
