SHIPWRECK AND LOSS OP LIFE.
Sydney, this day.,;— The schooner Prima Donna, 85 tons, in ballast, has
been totally wrecked at Bondi, on the coast a few miles south of Sydney. Five of the crew have perished, but the captain has been saved.
MURDER & ARRESTS in IRELAND.
London, 29th.—-Five . persons have been arrested on suspicion of being implicated in a murder yesterday in Dublin, the motive for which is supposed to have been political. A number of arms and several papers of a seditious nature were found in possession of the ; accused, and were seized by the police. ;
: f ;Home Politics. London, 29th.—The election of a member of the House of Commons for Carnarvon' in room- of the late Mr W. B. Hughes, Liberal, took place today, and resulted in the return of Mr G. Parry, Liberal candidate, by a large majority over the Radical candidate.
Disfranchising for Corruption. London, 29th.—The Right Hon. John Bright has introduced in the House of Commons on behalf of the Government a bill to disfranchise on account of corrupt practices the boroughs of Boston, Macclesfield, and Canter-, bury ;- and to further suspend for the same cause the seats for Chester, Gloucester, Oxford, Sandwich, and Wigan. Catholic Honors. London, 29th.—It is announced that the most Rev. Edward McCabe, Catholic archbishop of Dublin, has received the cardinal’s hat. £ Explosive Bomb. London, 29th.—Serious outrages continue: to be committed in disturbed districts in Ireland. News to hand to-day states that an attempt has been made in Donegal to destroy a. farm-house with an explosive bomb.’ The missile was thrown, ; and ■ the vexplosion paused serious damage to the house, but the intnates escaped injury.
