closed on the leader through mistake of the others. After the first circle had been accomplished Momus went after Catch-’em, having the advantage on the far side of the course. After two miles had been traversed Momus went to the front, and Catch-’em having baulked a fence got a lead of twenty lengths. Catch-’em was however turned round smartly, and went in pnrsuit, gradually overhauling the grey. Once on the hill, Catch-’em came very fast and caught Momus and led by three lengths into the straight. Rae rode desperately after Mr Williamson’s horse but failed to catch him, though Rowlands had to shake Catch-em up to win, he having had enough of it. Rikorangi and St, Swithin finished third and fourth, 50 lengths behind the pair. Momus and Hard Times were first favorites. Dividend £6 on the winner.
