A cricket match was played on thei Waverley ground on Saturday between the Waitotara and Waverley Star Clubs. It being late before the match was commenced, the two innings could not be played out. Wailotara having won the toss sent : lhe home team to the wickets, when they ran up the respectable score of 134 runs, Thomson making 72 by real good 1 ' play. ; ’ The visitors then essayed the willow, running up 55, the chief scores being.,R. At a meeting of the committee of the Kaitangata relief fund, held at Dunedin, the statement of accounts showed that £1,288 12s 8d had been distributed during the year, in fortnightly allowances to the widows and families of those killed in Kaitangata coal mine explosion.
