ROUND THE WORLD IN A SCHOONER.
The beautiful schooner yacht Asteroid recently arrived at Auckland. She is the property of Mr J. H. Burton, her captain, who is accompanied by Mr A. Deacon and Mr T, A. R. Littlewood. , She was launched in April, 1880, and after cruising about three months, started on a trip round the world. From Liverpool she went to Lisbon; thence through the. Mediterranean, calling at several ports there ; passed down the Suez canal, put in at Singapore and Batavia, and proceeded on to Australia. Western Australia, Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, and Hobart were respectively visited. Next she came to New Zealand-—Milford Sound, Dunedin, Lyttelton, and Wellington being called at. She stopped at White Island en route from Wellington; The Asteroid will remain in Auckland about three weeks, then proceed to the Islands, Samoa being probably the first port of call, afterwards going Home by Torres Straits and the Cape of Good Hope. She has been out nineteen months, and it is calculated she will reach England about July. /
