Washed Overboard. Dunedin, 20th.—William Doughty, master of the schooner Orpheus, timberladen from the Thames, was washed overboard off Bank’s Peninsula on the morning of the 13th, and drowned. He leaves a wife and four children at Newton, Auckland.

The Albion steamer from Melbourne reached the Bluff to-day. Tenders for supplying stores to the Harbor Board were opened yesterday, and that of Mr John Gibson was accepted. The dramatic company now in Patea will perform at Hawera from Wednesday to Saturday evening. The engineer’s estimate of works proposed by the Hawera Borough Council is nearly £3,000. Tenders are called for some works, to be done out of current revenue.
