Washington, 20th.—Congress has adopted a Bill providing for greater expedition in the overland transit of homeward and outward Australian mails, via ?an Francisco, MEAT & BUTTER CARGO. London, 20th.—The steamer Protos has arrived from Melbourne, via Suez, with a cargo consisting of 8,000 carcases of sheep and 2,787 packages of butter. The mutton is reported to be in fair condition, but the state of the butter is understood to be rather doubtful. Close of Quarantine. Melbourne, this day.—All patients have been discharged from the Quarantine station, and quarantine has now closed.
