(per united press association.) This Day. NEW PLYMOUTH BREAKWATER. New Plymouth.—The Richard and Mary schooner, from Nelson, went alongside the new breakwater this morning, and is landing cargo.
RHODES'S ESTATE. Wellington, 11th.—Messrs Chapman and Fitzgerald, solicitors for one of the plaintiffs in the well-known suit Rhodes y Rhodes, Wellington, received a cable message from London yesterday, briefly stating that the Privy Council had allowed the appeal from the decision here. The full judgment will not be to hand for some weeks. It will have the effect, however, of conferring on Miss Rhodes an annual income derivable from the late Mr Rhodes’s estate, which is said to be very large. Artillery Firing. Wellington. ■ — Artillery Volunteers fired their match against the other Batteries in New Zealand this morning, making a splendid score of 871. The other Artillery corps who have fired, and scores, are: Dunedin 736, Fort Chalmers 715, Oamaru 629. Fire at Teorero. A fire at Teoreore destroyed a building occupied by Mr Jacob Bamber. The origin of the fire is unknown. Very few things were saved. Loss estimated at £175; insured in the North British for £IOO.
