Bank Bate. London, 9lh.—The Bank of England has to-day reduced its rate of discount to 4 per cent. Fighting in Transvaal. Capetown, Bth.—Telegrams are to hand from the Transvaal stating that further severe fighting has taken place between the Boers and natives under the chief Montsiraa, residing beyond the boundary fixed by the convention. The Boers twice attacked the Montsima, bnt were repulsed on each occasion with heavy loss.
