PETROLEUM CO. GRIEVANCES. CHARGES OF DECEPTION.

Wellington.—The Dunedin Times says the Southern Cross petroleum Company have no valid lease of the country where petroleum is found, not half the necessary signatures having been obtained. Melbourne shareholders, represented by McMahon, Jack, and Reins, are disgusted to find that the native title was never extinguished, and that workmen may be driven off the ground by natives. The Gisborne directors are strongly animadverted on, and there will probably be legal proceedings. McMahon and Jack will return to Melbourne, to consult shareholders as to further proceedings.
