Exploring the Bush.

A prospecting party for exploring the Lush behind Momahaki, towards the intoi ior, is being promoted in the Waverh-y district. A subscription list has been going round, and wo believe over £2O is promised towards defraying the expenses of a prospecting party, who are to explore with the object of reporting to Government the suitability of the back country for settlement, and the practicability of making roads info it from Wnverley. A report favorable to settlement would be a strong argument to back up any appeals to Government for that object. We heartily sympathise with the movement, and if further funds be wanted, there are many persons in Patea who will, wo believe, give liberal help to the Waverley people in their sensible and very desirable project. Let it not be supposed that Patea people think only of their own little patch. Waverley and Patea will prosper better by pulling together in projects of this kind, than in trying each to defeat the other.
