OFFICIAL PROMISES
Mr Forster, Chief Secretary for Ireland, addressed a meeting at Tullamore, King’s County, 7th. He reproached Irishmen for yielding to the terrorism which had prevailed, and addec that the Government are determined that neither landlords nor tenants should mar the effectiveness of the Irish Land Act. Mr Forster further announced that the imprisoned suspects would be released when the outrages which still prevailed had ceased. The Queen’s Escape. Melbourne, this day,—Earl Kimberley, Secretary of State for the Colonies, has telegraphed to the Governors of Victoria and South Australia expressing the Queen’s cordial appreciation of telegrams recently forwarded conveying congratulations upon her Majesty’s escape.
