FROZEN MEAT PRICES. London, Ist. —The cargo of frozen meat per Orient steamer, consisting of mutton and lamb, has realised an average of s£d per pound. The meat was of fair quality. Shipping Disaster. London, 28th.—The ship Woodside, bound to Port Chalmers from Liverpool, went ashore at Holyhead, North Wales. The captain and some of the crew were drowned. The vessel has been got off, and been taken to Liverpool for repair. Shipping. Sydney, this day.—Sailed this morning, the Union Company’s steamship Arawata, for Auckland. Released from Quarantine. Sydney.—Numbers of persons who were in quarantine have been released, and this colony is now free of small-pox, except at the Sanatorium. Revenue Improving. Melbourne.—The Victorian revenve returns for the past month are very favorable, satisfactory increases being shown in most branches. Defences of Victoria. Melboure. —The Government have decided to complete the defence at Port Phillip Heads without delay, and to reestablish the permanent Artillery Corps which was disbanded a short time back.
