Hospital Inquiry.
The inquiry by a committee into the management of the County Hospital is not concluded, but a report on irregularities in reference to Hospital stores was submitted at the Council meeting to-day. Other matters are to be further enquired into. Some irregularities in stores were found. Three gallons of brandy and one gallon of wine were not accounted for in the period from August ’BO to end of January last. The committee did not blame the Clerk as store-c keeper, but thought the loose system of keeping records or checks might account for the deficiency, A letter Irom the Hospital Surgeon expressed an opinion on the Steward’s suitableness for his position. Councillors thought the Surgeon and Steward could not work amicably together, and a change would be desirable. It was agreed that the usual notice be sent to the Steward to terminate bis service.
