LAND SALE.
DECREASED DEMAND
The further sale of six thousand acres of bush land near tbe Waimntc Plains was hold at Hawera on Wednesday, and proved a 'partial failure. Only three cash sections sold out of 31 offered. There were 21 applications for 11 sections on deferred payment; 13 being offered altogether, without compulsory residence, but with progressive improvements. The contested lots were put up to auction, the results being as follow ; DEFERRED PAYMENT LOTS. Sec. Purchaser. Upset. Realised. B. 4 P. Taylor do. 9 H. Garland do. 11 A. Mortleman do, 15 T. Saddler (6 applicants) 69 20 M. Connor 45 24 S. Ellis, Nelson 44 23 J. Graham, upset. Ngaire, Block Y. 74 E. Keppel, upset 80 M. J. Mcßeynolds 45 83 R. Davies 30 89 R. H. Nolan, upset. Two sections remained in this block, and one is since taken up. CASH SECTIONS. In block 13, Kanpokonui, H. R. Farrington purchased sections 25 and 26,. 100 acres each, at £2. In block 5, Ngaire, J. C. Durie pur- ; chased section 91 at the upset of 30s. The small demand for-this land is said to be due partly to the late date at which plans were distributed from Wellington.
