Freeman R. Jackson’s Fortnightly Stock Report. Wanganui, Fehy. 22.

I have no alteration to report in the value of stock. The sales during the fortnight were fairly well attended with buyers for cattle. The demand for sheep is still unsatisfied. At the Waverley yards Mr W. Wilson’s pure-bred Lincoln rains were sold. They were very much admired, and elicited keen competition. They made from £3 13s 6d to £l7 6s 6d. Mr Hunter’s rams brought from £2 to £4 12s 6d. At the yards to-day the localbred rams met a capital market. Those bred by Mr J. Watt realised from £1 17s 6d to £2 ss, and Mr Robertson’s topped the market at from £2 7s 6d to £lO 15s. The imported rams did not find much favor, nearly all the Lincolns being passed. The Romney Marsh sheep were all sold at from £5 10s to £6, Messrs Cameron and Simpson taking the bulk. Cattle. —At Waverley 139 head were sold —Steers £4 17s 6d, cows and calves £4 12s 6d, yearlings £2 10s, calves £1 12s 6d. At Kakaramea only 65 head came forward—Fat cows £4 15s, 3-year-old steers £4 15s, 2-year-olds £3 ss, heifers £3 to £3 ss, yearlings £2 ss. At the yards to-day fat cows brought £2 10s to £5 ss, bullocks £6 2s 6d to £7 ss, 3-year-old bullocks £5 ss, cows £3 7s 6d to £3 13s, heifers £2 2s 6d to £3, yearlings £2.

Sheep—At Waverley 1531 were yarded —Fat ewes, 12s 6d ; wethers, 11s 6d ; store ewes, 7s; shorn lambs, 4s Gd. At Kakaramea 3943 were sold—Ewes, 9s Id to 10s 8d ; fat sheep, T2s ; lambs in wool, 7s to 8s Id. At the yards to-day 3200

came forward—Fat wethers, l2sto 12s 6d ; store wethers, medium qualify, 7s 9cl ; lambs in wool, 5s 6d to 6s 9d. j Pigs—Porkers, 18s ; breeding sows, £2 2s ; small pigs, 7s to 9s. Exports—6o cattle, 950 sheep, 48 horses, and 175 pigs
