The directors of the Public Hull Company, New Plymouth, have purchased the site for a new hall, and plans of the ground, shewing the levels with full particulars ns to the requirements, have been sent to the leading architects of the Colony inviting designs for the building. Immediately nflcr a design has been selected tenders will be called for the erection of the building. Mr Mahoney, an architect from Auckland, inspected the site a few days since, and expressed himself in terms of satisfaction as to the position being suitable and well adapted for the purpose required. Work on the Wellington-Manawatn Railway will commence simultaneously at both ends. Mr Linton, the Palmerston director, has informed shareholders to that effect. Another vessel is required at Wanganui for the Melbourne timber trade, several of the saw-millers having a lot of yellow pine of saleable lengths ready for shipment.
