Dr Julius Yon Haast, Christchurch, received the following telegram from the Rev W. S. Green, on the 17th: c£ Albury, 9 a.m.—Reachhed camp at 1 on Monday ; weather perfect; all well. W. S. Green, Tasman Glacier.” Dr Haast writes: I may perhaps avail myself of this opportunity to answer the enquiries of numerous correspondents, who wished to know if they could join Mr Green—that owing to the difficulties most probably to be encountered with, he refused even before arriving in Christchurch, to add to his party. 5 '
