PRODUCE—NEW ZEALAND v
THE WORLD
In your issue of Monday, 13th instant, (Imre appeared some interesting tables on average produce. By the first it would appear that the land in .Vangnnui County produces considerably more than Patea Count}’, except in the one instance of oats. As this is contrary to the generally expressed opinion, I should like to know if it reallv is the case.
Next, in table No, 3 it would appear that, taking some of the chief wheatproducing countries, none of them approach New Zealand in growing power, except Denmark, and that was the case only in one year. It would be most interesting, and exceedingly instructive, if a table could bo framed showing the comparative cost of putting wheat in the market from other countries and from New Zealand. Then one could form a true estimate as to whether the larger production in New Zealand was in any degree outweighed by the lesser cost of quitting the grain from other parts. A OBJ COLA.
