MONEY ORDERS AND SAVINGS BANK.

During the last quarter of the year 1881 the postal districts of New Zealand issued 36,034 money orders, representing in value £118,826, and paid 27,270, representing £88,843; the amounts for the corresponding quarter in 1880 being respectively £116,615 issued, and £86,236 paid. In Savings Bank transactions during the last quarter 4632 accounts were opened, and 3286 closed. The deposits for the same term amounted to £302,782, and the withdrawals to £236,549. For the corresponding quarter in 1880 the amounts were £228,155 deposits, and £191,191 withdrawals.
