GOLD REEF DISCOVERED
NEAR NELSON.
Nelson, this day.—An important discovery of a gold-bearing reef five feet thick is reported to have been made at Mount Owen, about 80 miles from Nelson by tbe-present road.

New Plymouth.—Carey’s Juvenile “ Pirates ” concluded a- successful season here on Saturday, and the company have left for Hawera and Patea.
Fire at Nelson.
Nelson.—A fiie broke out during church hours last evening in the centre of a range of stables occupied by Mr Crewdson, tramway proprietor, Mr Thomas, cab proprietor, and Mr Pickard, storekeeper. Crewdson had one horse burned to death, and one tram car was partially burnt. The stables were completely destroyed, and Crewdson's dwelling-house and another building were with difficulty saved. The only insurance is £l5O.
