POVERTY BAY OIL.
A private letter from Melbourne has been received in Napier, relative to the trial of the paraffin mineral from the Southern Cross Company’s claim. The writer says:—“ The experiment is not yet finished, but is shaping exceedingly well. I am quite satisfied as to what the result will be. Advise everyone not to sell a share in the Petroleum Company—it is well worth sticking to. I believe a refining company will be started here who will buy the crude material from the Southern Cross Company and ship it here to be refined.
