Prospecting Back Country.

In accordance with the official intimation received from Wellington, a party has to-day commenced a prospecting survey of that portion of back country near Patea known as the University reserve. The work is entrusted to Mr Haben, and ho has formed a working party with camping requisites. The Kaharoa track will be one of the lines to be followed between the two rivers. The larger and better portion of the 10,000 acres of University reserve lies on the cast side of Whenuakura stream That country is so little known that some definite report is much needed. The up-river region will, we suppose, be included in the present prospecting survey, so that we may know the land we live in, and have the back country opened to settlement if it or some of it be reasonably accessible and good.
